Hi,
I am from Bristol UK, and I am currently studying and wanted to study a semester abroad in Australia either in the Goldcoast or Sydney. I was looking at applying for early 2025 but I am concerned about the Australian wildlife. If you could share some advise that would be appreciated!
Hi Daniel,
I would be happy to help clear up any concerns on traveling. I currently living in Sydney and have also spent time in the Gold Coast, particularly in the city areas. Fear not, the wildlife is well adjusted to human presence and while there are pesky sea gulls that want to steal your crisps if you're not at a beach are wildlife isn't too thrilling. However I would be weary of spiders, whilst most Australian spiders are non-venomous there are some deadly exceptions such as the Sydney funnel web. In saying that no one has died in Australia from spider bite since 1979 due to anti venom. Overall, my advice to you would be to make the most of your trip if you decide to study in Australia! The media tends to exaggerate Australian wildlife, so don't let this misinformation scare you away from a potentially life changing experience.
